Presentation by Kate Bronfenbrenner, Midstate Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO (607) 277-5670 1-800-804-8252 Fax (607) 272-4111 General Meeting Wednesday, February 19 AGENDA "What the Labor Movement Needs to Do to Survive and Grow." Discussion and decision on Directions Committee and Steering Committee proposal to establish a bimonthly meeting schedule. The proposal is to increase the frequency of general meetings, in effect giving the general membership more decision-making authority. At present there are only three general meetings each year. The Steering Committee suggests increasing these to six, on a bi- monthly basis. It is also proposed to try to provide special speakers, films or discussions at each meet- ing. Moet Caahinas Wee yt Far Ares 3. Discussion and decision on Steering Committee proposal to reduce the number of seats and meetings of the Steering Committee. IB) The proposal is to reduce the number of seats on the Steering Committee to seven (including all elected officers) from eleven (the current number). In addi- tion to seven regular Steering Committee members, two alternates would be elected, to fill in for members who are unable to make a meeting. The Steering Com- mittee will meet bimonthly, during months when there is no general meeting (this assumes approval of the previous proposal increasing the frequency of general meetings).
