Dear

The enclosed letter from the Coalition has been mailed out to 30
businesses in the Ithaca area, along with the other enclosures here.

This mailing will be followed up with phone calls to some of the businesses
to discuss employment needs and ways in which the labor community might
encourage the creation of good paying jobs in this area.

This mailing will further the Coalition's efforts to achieve our
Objective #2, "To attempt to determine if any Ithaca area business is con-
sidering a plant shutdown or sudden "major" workforce reduction within the
next 1-5 years."

At this point, it should be noted that the Ithaca Post Office is
considering the elimination of 45-50 jobs from the Ithaca area. (See enclosed
article.) The Coalition is in contact with the American Postal Workers Union
which is monitoring the situation and attempting to determine the necessity
of such an action.

If you have any questions regarding the enclosed mailing please call

me as soon as possible.

Sincerely;

Coert Bonthius, TCLC Staffperson
