Dear Matt:

The Labor Coalition had a terrific rally in support of the Cargill miners
this past Saturday. Numerous local labor leaders, Democratic leaders, and church
folk spoke in support of the miners' cause. We even got favorable coverage in the
Journal so you KNOW it must have been good!

I wanted to thank you on behalf of the Labor Coalition for your letter of
interest which was read at the rally. I am aware of the awkwardness such struggles
cause for you, not to mention one which is taking place outside your district.
However, just as the Reagan administration has effectively dismantled other

fundamental systems of justice and due process in our society, so hath they wrought
with our labor laws. I believe it is incumbent on community leaders to help restore

some semblance of balance and fair play. Your interest has helped in that regard.
Thanks again, I look forward to discussing these kinds of concerns with you in
the coming months.

Very truly,

Al Davidoff
