Deer Jim:

The Ithaca Journal is gathering a distinguished group of area business people for its first
Economic Roundtable, to be held Tuesday, January 21, at the Ramada Inn.

We would be honored if you would join this group, addressing the labor area of our
economy.

The Economic Roundtable will focus on Tompkins County at mid-decade: the state of the economy,

and the opportunities and challenges likely to arise on the loca] and national levels during the
rest of the ‘80s.

We are asking each participant to prepare a 10-minute presentation, outlining what he or she
sees as the major issues likely to dominate that particular segment of the economy. We will
have @ five-minute question-and-answer session following each individua) presentation, in

which a Journal] reporter and other Roundtable participants will be encouraged to ask questions.

All comments expressed during the Roundtable will be on the record. We hope it will be a free-
wheeling and informa) discussion from which we will write the main story and supporting
articles for our annua] Outlook Edition, to be published Friday, January 31.

] wil) serve as mooerator of the session, which wil] begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Old Mill room at
the Ramada. A continental breakfast will be available at 8 a.m., so we hope youll come early
to meet the other participants before the Roundtable begins.

We're hoping you will accept our invitation. If you are willing to participate, please call me
by Tuesde\, January 14, at the above number. At that time, I'll be happy to give you more
