PLANT CLOSINGS BILL

The mayor's committee comprised of 3 representatives from labor and

3 from business with a resource person for each group met on March 10
They heard a report from Steve Jackson, our resource person, who had

researched the effects of similar legislation around the country. It

was overwhelmingly positive and helped to debunk the major arguements

of the business community. The next meeting is April 7. The Coalition

hopes that the committee will wind down shortly afterwards and that
the legislation will go to Common Council.

We will have a brochure on the bill available soon.
